Better known for its sweeping coastlines, beach resorts and snorkelling sites, the Cayman Islands could soon be home to its own cryptocurrency exchange.
The Cayman Islands Investment Group (CIIG) has announced plans to develop a new digital asset trading platform, based in the Cayman Islands.
CIIG said it hopes to utilise the same security and compliance measures exhibited in the Cayman Island’s finance sector.
Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple and Monero are just some of the cryptocurrencies that will be available for commerce on the exchange, which is anticipated to launch within Q1 of 2019, with the Beta testing phase having begun in January.
“We are truly excited to present to the world with a new platform,” said CIIG managing director Corvin Mclean.
CIIG was founded in 2018 and offers products and services designed to broaden the possibilities of commerce in the Caribbean.
