Hong Kong set for Blockchain boost as experts descend

The City University of Hong Kong’s (CityU) inaugural ‘Blockchain Technology and Applications’ symposium will launch tomorrow, with the aim to bring together industry players and blockchain academics.

The two-day event, taking place at CityU on Tat Chee Avenue in Kowloon Tong, will offer a series of keynote addresses and panel discussions exploring and sharing ideas on technology, economics, innovation and blockchain applications.

Confirmed speakers include Edward Du, the chairman of Singaporean blockchain consulting firm Talenta and other industry leaders such as Columbia University’s Dr David Yao, IBM fellow Dr C Mohan, LD Capital partner Dr Waishun Lo, Bitkan chairman Yang Liu and Huobi first CTO Ying Son.

Presenters from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology and CityU resident professors are among the panel discussion line-up.

More than 100 professors and experts from the academic field will also present their latest research at the event.

CityU is making waves in the blockchain space, with the establishment of a Chengdu-based joint blockchain research centre and several more planned in the pipeline.
